The ESV Study Bible
This book will always be on my list, because I try to spend time reading in it everyday. This is my favorite book. It’s life changing, powerful, comforting, convicting, and illuminating.
Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban
Okay, I have finally jumped on the bandwagon. I read the first two during a recent road trip and now I’m on book three. I still don’t understand the cult-like following, but these books are definitely entertaining. In my opinion what makes Rowling’s series so attractive is that her main characters are relatable. Instead of creating Harry to be the picture perfect, gorgeous hero, he’s a nerdy, four-eyed boy with major family issues. Almost everyone can relate to that.
The Cost of Discipleship
This challenging work is written by a pastor who was killed at the age of 39 in one of Hitler’s death camps. This book is not an easy read by any means, but it’s a powerful read challenging one’s view on what it really means to follow Jesus. And no, I don’t mean follow Him, twitter-style.
